Book Recommendation- Mads Baker
This book blew my mind. The writers, Andy and Mike, trace the main themes within the bible from the Old Testament to the New Testament. This book goes through the themes of Jesus, God’s covenant, the kingdom, his salvation, his presence and finally, the thread of worship.
This book allowed me to see how clearly the Old Testament points directly to the New Testament. It can sometimes feel like the Old Testament was ‘Plan A’ and when the Israelites (God’s chosen people) failed and messed up too many times, God suddenly had to quickly whip up a New Testament as ‘Plan B’. This book makes it so clear that the Bible reveals how God had a plan all along. Andy and Mike make so apparent the correlations and parallels between the stories of Noah, Joseph, Moses and David and what was to come. Each of these people from the Old Testament all purposefully point directly to God’s (not-so-secret) plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a resource that brings clarity to what God has done, is doing and will do. The book follows God in creation, to his habitation within the temple, to his son bringing salvation as the culmination of all that had been prophesied within the Old Testament. The challenge is how we respond today knowing what has been and knowing the ultimate destination of the future that is prophesied in revelation.
