St. Swithin’s has a great community of young adults made up of students and those in their twenties. We are passionate about building a community of disciple making disciples who support one another to become everything God wants them to be.
We gather as a community at the6:30, our evening service, which is followed by an After Hours program of social events. In the week we have young adult Life Groups, a mentoring program and lots of other community gatherings which are great opportunities to invite along friends. As a community we get stuck in - serving on teams in the Church, finding places where we can use our skills and passions to serve our city.
We care about seeing lives and communities transformed here in Lincoln and are always finding new ways to reach out and share our hope with those around us, whether that’s throwing great parties to invite friends to or serving those who are most vulnerable, we want to be a community that makes a difference.
Whatever university you are from, come and get involved during freshers weeks in 2018. We have loads of great events to introduce you to the church and what we are about – if you would like to know more, find ways of getting connected or just fancy meeting up for a coffee then we’d love to hear from you.
Our services are great for finding new friends and building community, as well as finding a team to serve on. We have something for everyone!
The 10:30 is for all ages, join us at 10:15 for coffee and croissants – we’d love to meet you and help you connect in. We love having young adults as great role models for our youth and children so if that’s something you’d like to be involved with, this is a great place to come and get to know the younger generations and serve on teams.
the6:30 is our evening service open to anyone looking for a more relaxed feel with more space for worship and ministry. Doors open at 6:15 and the service finishes around 7:30 with After Hours events straight afterwards. Next term we have Pub Quizzes, Movie Nights, Games Nights and loads more.
Life groups are the places where real life happens. Our small groups meet across the city – some centre around forming a community for mission on campus and others revolve around food or an activity. Whichever you choose, this is a place where you can just be yourself and figure out life together.
Over summer you can plug into our Student Summer Life Group, or Forge to keep yourself involved in the life of the church and to make some friends. There are also life courses running throughout the year if you fancy trying something a little different.
We have loads of great events coming up throughout the year to help you and your mates connect in with St. Swithin’s community and to explore life and faith. Upcoming events include an EPIC party in the Cathedral, our weekend away, lunches, movie nights… we’ve got so much going on! Keep your eyes peeled on social media and your email to see what’s happening!
If you’ve just moved to the city and are missing that comfy sofa and Dad’s roast dinners, we’ve got just the thing to make you feel right at home: We know that being a student in a new city is great fun but sometimes you just fancy a nice family Sunday lunch. We have a great team of Host Families who invite students along for lunch after the 10.30 service. As well as delicious food, its a great way to get to know people from the church. Student Lunches happen throughout the term – we’ll let you know when they’re happening and how to sign up!
We would love every young adult at St. Swithin’s to have a mentor in the church who can help disciple, guide and support them. We would also love our young adults to be involved in mentoring the next generation. If you are interested in mentoring someone then look out for the next Mentor Training Session. To sign up for a mentor please click the button below and fill out the short form and we’ll try and find someone suitable for you.
